Focus the Nation

Focus the Nation is organizing a national teach-in on global warming solutions for America—creating a dialogue at over a thousand colleges, universities, high schools, middle schools, places of worship, civic organizations and businesses, and directly engaging millions of students and citizens with the nation’s decision-makers. Focus the Nation will culminate January 31st, 2008 in simultaneous educational symposia held across the country. Our intent is to move America beyond fatalism to a determination to face up to this civilizational challenge, the challenge of our generation.

UUUS

University Unitarian Universalist Society

Members and friends of our society have varied religious backgrounds, ranging from traditional Christian (Protestant and Catholic), Jewish, Buddhist, and Humanist. We join together to learn, reason, share, and act for social justice in our community.
Our emphasis on this page is environmental, especially in the reduction of greenhouse gases. But the entire section is about making stronger connections with not only the world, but about designing our futures. To make a difference, the change must occur inside. The journey will be different for each of us, but starts when something captures our imagination, or mind. Whether it be social issues that help create poverty and injustice, our overheating world, recycling, spiritual matters, or something else.
